Karmen Levar

Background

Karmen Levar is a writer, filmmaker and journalist with a strong focus on documentary production, cultural research and media creation. She gained public attention in 2023 with her documentary film „Bil je, ni ga, opet će prit”, which explores the tradition of the Novi Vinodolski carnival — one of the most important cultural customs of the region. The film was made during her journalism studies at the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb.

It premiered in a packed Culture Hall in Novi Vinodolski, received highly positive feedback, and captured the transfer of customs across generations. Across her work she shows a deep interest in preserving local heritage, tradition and cultural identity.
